During the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot has changed in our regular routines. From places of work to leisure activities, to our overall routines, there’s a lot to adjust to. With an immense increase in change, it can be difficult to find new things to do in your spare time. As regular free-time activities may not be available at the moment, it’s up to creativity and ingenuity to stay connected to the things you enjoy the most. So let’s take a look at 10 FREE activities that you can routinely do during this season!
1. Get involved in an online workout program.
With hundreds of workout videos across YouTube, finding a level and type of exercise for you has never been easier! Whether you’re looking for yoga, HIIT, strength, or a variety of them all, do some video browsing and get your body moving from the comfort of your own home.
2. Rearrange and decorate.
It’s hard to think of decorating without going out and buying things, but it’s amazing how much you can do with what you already have! Start by decluttering and cleaning some areas that might not have been cleaned recently (*cough cough* the holiday-decoration closet) and see what pieces you can find that can be year-long decor.
3. Go through old photos/letters.
Feeling sentimental? Going through old photo albums or boxes of letters/momentos can be a perfect way to reflect on the past and remember some of the good old days.
Bonus: After going through old momentos, find someone who you haven’t talked to in a while and give them a call.
4. Write letters to family and friends.
Yes, we’re talking real, hand-written letters. Think of how excited your mom, uncle, best friend from high school, people who you might haven’t seen in a long time would be to receive a hand-written note in the mail! This could also lead to the start of a long-lasting pen pal.
5. Go on a nature walk.
Even if you’re in the middle of a city, you can go out on a walk to keep an eye for nature. Make it your goal to count how many dogs/birds/squirrels/bunnies you see on a single walk and keep a tally going.
There’s no doubt that this season can be challenging and different for many. But finding time to do things you enjoy can help provide you with the rest and happiness you need. Explore some different opportunities that might allow you to relax and recharge.
